Madhuri Dixit
Madhuri has been a popular Indian actress who achieved recognition for her performance in the films Hum Aapke Haiin Koun and Beta Saajan. She began her career in the 1980s and came to prominence with her performance in Tezaab, a film in which she was a part of the cast with veteran actor Anil Kapoor. Her next appearance on screen was in Dil along with Aamir. In Mumbai the city she was born in a family of middle-class parents. At a very young age, she began to study dance. While still a teenager she attempted acting, however most of those early films did not succeed. She finally found success, and became one of the most prominent actors in the Indian film business. After marriage, she experienced a career break before reentering the film industry. She played a major role on Gulaab Gang, a film about women's struggles in India. Dixit won 8 Filmfare Awards out of the fifteen she was nominated for. Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian prize given to civilians in India, was bestowed upon Dixit. Also, she has earned a name as a social activist.
